Hansen Transmissions Industrial drives for Zondagsfontein Coal Mine Overland Conveyors
Belgian multi-national Hansen Transmissions, globally acknowledged as an engineering, design and manufacturing specialist of industrial drives, was again the preferred supplier of conveyor drives to Roymec Pty Ltd., a leading bulk materials handling company.
Based on Hansen Transmission’s re-putation for delivering well engineered, reliable industrial drives, combined with exceptional service support and on time delivery, Hansen received the order from Roymec for 40 conveyor drives, ranging from sizes QHRC2 to QHRL2 gearboxes, in March 2008.
Hansen Transmissions Sales Manager, Clive Dicks, says that the drives range in outputs from 45kW to 750kW. He adds, "The drives will operate on the Zondagsfontein and Phola Project."
According to Clive, specifications for the drives are based on a previous project for Anglo Coal. Clive explains, "In May 2007 we supplied drives for the Mafube Colliery Project, a joint venture between Anglo Coal and Exxaro. Anglo Coal specified that the gearboxes run at noise levels below 85dbA and also meets the specification for 100,000 hrs bearing life, high thermal ratings and noise levels. "From delivery to commissioning, we conducted the Mafube project with our customary dedication to product excellence, professional, safe and on-time installation to customer specifications".
Deliveries for the Zondags and Phola Project are taking place in stages, commencing September 2008, with final delivery scheduled for February 2009. Installation of the industrial drives will be taken care of by Roymec, while Hansen Transmissions will be responsible for final commissioning in conjunction with Roymec. "Our technicians will complete a 20 point checklist for commissioning before our customer does the final sign off", concludes Clive.
